Constructed with common available materials, this simple electrostatic machine can be used for physics demonstrations with static electricity. Very easy to construct, produces a spark powerful enough to be seen in the dark.

This simple instrument provides a rude visualization about the electrical field strength or about the quantity of electric charge present. When a charged object touches the metallic sphere on top, the metallic leaves goes apart. The instructions make easy to build one only with a glass jar and aluminum foil.
